Gas Natural Inc., a holding company, formerly known as Energy, Inc, is the parent to Energy West, Inc., a natural gas distribution company with operations in Montana, Wyoming, Maine and North Carolina. Gas Natural Inc. is also the parent company of Orwell Natural Gas and Northeast Ohio Natural Gas with our operations in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Gas Natural Inc. currently serves approximately 70,000 customers within our core utilities.
In August 2009, Energy, Inc. completed reorganization into a holding company as the successor to Energy West, Inc. (Energy West), now a direct, wholly-owned subsidiary of Gas Natural, Inc. We believe that the reorganization will help facilitate future acquisitions and financings to support our growth strategy. Our common stock currently trades on the NYSE MKT under the ticker symbol “EGAS.”
